Since first launched by EURORDIS and its Council of National Alliances in 2008, thousands of events have taken place throughout the world reaching hundreds of thousands of people with the common objective of raising awareness about rare diseases among population, specialists and media. Besides, the event has also served to promote advancement of national plans and policies for rare diseases.

After breaking records in 2014 with 84 participating countries, this February 28 is expected to join even more participants around the theme “Living with a Rare Disease” paying tribute to millions of patients, familiars and caregivers who are living “Day-by-day, hand-in-hand” with rare disease patients.

Focusing on the crucial change that being diagnosed with a rare disease supposes to the whole family, finding patients organizations to share information and experiences with, becomes essential in order to learn from each other. Patients, families and organizations are indispensable to create solutions for the daily fight of living with a rare disease and transform the individual experiences around the world into collective actions.
