This meeting has the purpose to highlight the most important experiences about thalassemia's prevention all around the world, to compare different prevention's strategies (in act or to come) in populations with various cultural, ethical and religious aspects, to point out the progress in hemoglobinopathies' diagnostics and finally to show the most updated techniques in thalassemia's treatment, including gene therapy's evolution and prospects.
