My clinical research interest is the management of patients with haemoglobinopathies, mainly with beta-thalassaemia major (TM) and sickle cell syndromes (SCD). The role of hydroxyurea in SCD and the study of iron chelation in TM and other haemoglobinopathies are important areas of my clinical research. I also have a special interest in the pathophysiology and therapy of bone disorders in TM, as well as in the biology of renal impairment in TM and SCD
