ENERCA co-organizes with ADHET an educational session on Hereditary red cell and iron disorders

Red cells

One of the main objectives of ENERCA is to achieve a better knowledge of the status of rare anaemias. Hereditary red cell and iron disorders is an activity co-organized by ENERCA and French scientific associations (ADHET). This educational session will target haematologists, paediatricians and trainees in haematology. The course will be held in French next October 11th - 12th 2012 in Montpellier (France).

Main topics will include disorders of red cell production, including those due to iron disorders, disorders of red cell membrane and heme synthesis and disorders of red cell survival (hereditary and acquired haemolytic anaemias), and their diagnosis and treatment. Scientific sessions will alternate with the presentation of clinical cases.

The main objective is to provide up-to-date knowledge on red cell and iron disorders, to promote harmonization of procedures for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients with these pathologies. The scientific program of the activity includes the following topics:

Session 1. Pathology of the red cell membrane
Session 2. Red cell enzymopathies
Session 3. Polycythemias
Session 4. Other rare constitutional anomalies of erythropoiesis
Session 5. Haemoglobinopathies: thalassaemias
Session 6. Haemoglobinopathies: sickle cell anemia and haemoglobin variants
