Erythrocytes of the Leach phenotype show an elliptocytic shape and increased osmotic fragility, but no abnormalities were observed as to the composition and organization of the phospholipid complement of their membranes. The Leach phenotype RBCs fail to react, by the antiglobulin test, with the monoclonal antibodies GERO, BRIC 4 and BRIC 10.
